Just got back from a long weekend working in London. My clients have a bit of a mystery plant by their front door. (Husband threw label away) It looks very much like a Camellia, but the leaves, though the right shape are not shiny; more the texture of a Buddlea leaf. The flowers are a rich pink and 4" across so I have been told. It is still in bud now. They were told it was not fully hardy, but I think it may survive in London if the rest of the winter is not too harsh. Any ideas?
It is so lovely to be back in the Fens, the silence, the stars and my little Jack Russell, though I think her kennels are just one long party.
Had lunch with a very old friend at the Wallace Collection in Manchester Square; lovely space, with large trees in pots, which are FAKE There is a huge glass ceiling; they could be growing something really lovely!
Artjak - no idea about the plant, but thanks for the nudge about the Wallace Collection - haven't been for yonks and I must go again - think it's just the sort of place my daughter in law would love - plans to be made
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Dove, the food at the Wallace is v. good and not expensive. We had great fun there; we are both in our 60's and behaved like school girls commenting on the paintings (she needs to change her hairdresser...etc).
I cleaned the pond pump as some fish are dying i put it down to the bench seat wood my son put over the pond to stop the herons with all this rain it could have been spirrit from the wood going in the water
i see the snowdrops are coming through also other plants starting to come up
also i put the seed and apples out for the birds which i havent seen for ages for the survey this weekend

Any news on the walk to see snowdrops?
Hi artjak
Going buy my snowdrops we're still looking at the first couple of weeks in Feb.I've got nothing fully out and some very far back indeed.
Not too quick to develop I hope as OH has the car in bits in the workshop replacing an oil seal.
