Most modern push mowers are not that heavy. You can find the weight of the Fiskars one online, apparently it is 24Kg which is over three stone. I struggle to lift it, but rarely have to since I just push it about. So for me the weight is not an issue, and I think it's great. Maybe the Brill razorcut would be better for them? It does not cut as close to the edge though, that is the appeal of the Fiskars, oh and the high build quality. The pity is that it is hard to see these things in the flesh. Maybe if you can find someone with a modern reel mower to try? You would be welcome to see mine, but I'm near Basingstoke, probably many many miles from you.
Well the verdict is not amazing at the moment - however, I think it's my fault that I haven't managed to cut it short enough as it's gone too long in between cuts! Having read other comments online, it seems you need to cut the grass very frequently with a push mower and not let it get very long at all, otherwise the cylinder misses most of the grass altogether!
I'll keep persevering though....maybe have to cut it with my daughter's electric mower again before I use my push mower to get a short cut!
Sorry for bumping such an old thread but I hope you can help me. I understand that 5 years have passed and there is no need to discuss the lawn movers mentioned in this thread before. I have found the information about
GreenWorks 25062 18-Inch Reel Lawn Mower with grass catcher and
American Lawn Mower 1415-16 16-Inch 5-Blade at https://themybuy.com/best-push-lawn-mowers/ and think ab. Maybe someone has already used it and can leave a reply. Will be gald.
