I've come to the conclusion that I can only take normal / zoom pictures in warm weather. Had fingeless gloves on and I still dither and get out of focus shots when I'm cold. Tried tucking arms in etc..and still failed. Tripod for a cheap camera, no chance. Must learn to walk before running
As such an Expert on Macro.... I say it was a close up of Red Admiral...he he he...( sorry was trying to impersonate our Verdun). Lovely picture.
Great hearing everyone's comments I'm enjoying this thread and of course the wonderful pictures!
Beautiful Red Admiral David!!
I'm looking forward to the 'homework' Little-Anne and intrigued to see what it is?
The kestrel was a fluke as I spotted her sat on a telegraph pole so I stopped the car wound back the sunroof a slowly crept forward until I was right underneath her and then fired off a few quick snaps before she worked out what was going on!

Shame that camellia doesn't smell David, always nice to have some scent drifting around the garden.
I'm still trying to follow the theme (sort of) so I will offer a macro shot first....
Speckled Wood
And then I'm going to sneak back a few posts and stick in a Kestrel....
Sadly not taken in the garden although they do hover over occasionally!

the Kestrel was sitting on the barn roof at the other side of the road, i did take some pictures of it hovering but they didnt turn out very well.
i went to my first photography class on Wednesday so over the next few weeks you can help with my home work
i wish i had blue sky behind my kestrel higgy
Not sure if this qualifies as a macro or close-up shot. Either ways, it's quite a handsome Red Admiral butterfly.
as you say David it dosnt realy matter about lables he is a handsome fellow and a good picture
Thanks, Ann.....looking forward to hearing how the first camera club visit went.

No doubt that's why she has a confused look!! LOL
Until I can get out & about again, I've almost exhausted my store of pics.....I'll soon have to resort to my holiday snaps!
Anyway, as I recall this is a Small Tortoiseshell butterfly.
Holiday snaps!? I'd better get some more butterflies in quick then!
Another cracker by the way David!
