Think Lily needs her glasses, I'm just up! Dove, I think I'd better return your body clock. It seems it only works for you
We've got some men arriving to 'fit' cavity wall insulation today courtesy of the power companies and the Govt Hope the don't put their ladders in my front border. Normally I wouldn't mind but I have some rather delicate alliums growing that I don't want to get squashed
Rebecca, good to hear you're secretly bonkers Beautiful gardens? Well, mine is most def a work in progress. All flowers though, apart from the odd fruit tree and my strawberry patch. I do seem to be cultivating dock this year though
OL, that cumber looks amazing Can you save me a cumber sarnie for lunch please?
Clari, grand looking spuds and even better in the pan, I could just eat them, but it's toast for me. I grew mine in bags of MPC with organic potato feed added, no probs with compost baking but needed plenty of water.
How are you toms going? I've got a lot of small ones on Dave. GH ones not as many but plenty of flowers.
I've got several tomatoes on the Roma but non on the Daves yet. Hoping they'll get a wiggle on and produce a few more flowers. I weaned them off and brought them outside when we had that lovely weather to maximise bee to flower interaction but am starting to think they might need to go back inside again!
I think they're Charlotte but I've lost the label so need to have a dig around and find where I wrote it down!
Rebecca re the beautiful gardens. I currently have a large mound of earth resembling road works / archaeological dig that will one day be the vegetable plot, a muddy area inspired by RHS award winning "dredging d' flood plains 2014" which is to be the chicken area once we've levelled it, the pond is trying to mimic the botanical gardens "bottom of the to do list", an area at the bottom of the garden which is growing 1 ton bags of sand in a "project miscaulated-is" Pompeii tribute.
And my front lawn is undergoing it's second year of 'restoration' following having 3 builder's skips and some Big Bags of sand and gravel on it for a considerable period of time.
I will turn it back into a lawn without having to dig it up and start again - I will - I will!
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Hmm. Suns gone in and its gone cold. Thats the forecast up the spout again. it was supposed to be hot. I might have a wander to the antique/junk shop to see if they are interested in any of MIL's "treasures"
Have picked about a dozen cucumbers to date. Decided to give them a try this year and am growing Cucino which is harvested at about 3 inches long. 1st 4 I picked I took around to my daughter's for her, s.i.l. and 2 G.daughters. 11yr old G.dtr immediately ate one, then polished off her 13 yr old sister's. She wasn't the most popular bunny in the household
Have added a few pics taken this morning of the garden. Lupins are nearly over now but don't look too bad from a distance!
Greenhouse
Back garden from patio
Back garden from veg. patch
Veg. patch raised beds
Dr. Rupell Clematis is more prolific with flowers this year
The herb bed made last year is becoming established now
Have been out pruning the wisteria on the pergola this morning too and tying in some of the new growth
Lovely sunshine here now if a bit breezy. I've been out watering pots and potting up some Sisyrinchium that arrived in the post Shame I have to go to a meeting this afternoon - it's the sunniest it's been here for a few days.
