I am fuming after visiting my local B&Q store to look for some fiberglass square planters. They have some lovely designs on the website or teracotta ones, I like those too, but do they have any stock on the shelves? No!
I am just about fed up with this as its not the first time I have experienced a lack of stock or other problems.
For starters, their plant labels are so vague about the hardiness of plants that even an experienced gardener like myself is fooled into thinking that the shrub I know is acid loving or tender has suddenly been genetically improved, so I trust and I buy and the things dies on me in sub zero temperatures.
I bought a sun parasol this year that didnt have all the parts when I assembled it at home. and I have no car, so its another long walk in the heat.
I bought a paint spray which didnt have the spray part when I took the lid off at home and a weed killer with a missing hose. How is a ditzy customer like me supposed to know it should have a hose attached?
I wanted a new soil testing kit but there are none in stock. I bought a new light with a fan for the bedroom and it came without proper instructions. Honestly!
I am boycotting B&Q from now on, prefering to walk further and support local companies instead. I've had enough of their shoddy supplies and they've had far too much of my hard earned money.
Share your frustration Wintersong - if you have independents within walking distance then use them every time ! They might even be able to order stuff in for you specially
Wintersong....and breathe....just remember how beautiful your garden is and the world will instantly be a better place...even without the extra purchases ( or lack of).
Wintersong - I'm fortunate to be within just a few miles of two large branches of B&Q and on the whole they're pretty consistent, but I know exactly what you mean. It's infuriating when care instructions are misleading - perhaps it's a trick to get more stuff sold when the plants die...or am I very cynical? Just go and look at your lovely arch and new plants
Verd - I'm now picturing you as a Terry Thomas kind of character...hood down, trilby and silk scarf in place and little moustache....
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
