His you've all been busy early this morning. I have been up a while but have done garden 'inspection' and loaded pics onto laptop. Only 1 Aubergine leaf nibble a bit and another Poppy out
Morning all can I sneak on the end of this thread? talking of courgettes, Dove, I had a cucumber and courgette outside but they were wilting badly yesterday. Only outside because my small GH is rammed. But I fed them, watered liberally and squeezed them in the GH. They were not looking good late yesterday. Any ideas? could I have overwatered? Just about to check them
I did my weeding yesterday - there wasn't much though .
I'm finding pine cones are the best things round my slug/snail attracting plants. I used them round the top of a pot last year which had a clematis and sweet peas in it. Not a nibble. I've put them round the Irises as some of the new ones have had a lot of damage recently, despite plenty of grit. Think I'll collect them whenever I'm out as the squirrels eat a lot on the pine tree at the back of the garden.
Sun coming out here too OL
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Chuckling at Verdun and Steve's posts. It looked as though Steve thought Verdun was going to have three pasties until plant was mentioned. Oggy oggy oggy
Ash - I know zippity doo dah about courgettes but someone will know what the prob is. I think they're thirsty plants though . Perhaps they got a bit chilled outside recently - too early for them to be out?
Right- I can't be sitting about all day chatting like some of you.....
off to get on outside - have a great day all

Ash - probably combination of cold and wet - let them dry out a bit. They like lots of water if the weather's warm - those huge leaves transpire a lot of moisture - but until they're big plants keep them slightly dry when the temps are down.
I've been given two 'Patio Cukes' and a 'Patio Aubergine' - never tried them before so if any of you have grown them, all tips would be welcome I presume that I treat them along the lines of outdoor tomatoes and chillies???
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Cucumbers like water but they hate sitting in it. They can collapse quite quickly in cold wet ground. When I plant them now, after advice, I plant them on a slight mound to help drainage. They are usually fine once they've got going, but vulnerable when young plants.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
