OL I've read the book but not been to Spinalonga, did consider going a couple of years ago but read that it had become quite touristy, not that I'd have been a tourist If Lesley's been and says it's not to be missed try and go. Can I be nosey and ask where you are staying ?
Lesley when did you visit and where did you stay ? Got my nosey head on.
Right I'd better stop dreaming of Crete and go do something.
I'm taking a little time to let you know that its spring here at last and I have been busy (well close to busy as I can Get) and finally got all my bulbs tubers ect planted.I planted for 10 minutes then sat for 15 minutes,I'm still trying to figure out what is meant by the golden years.A few pictures of my tulips and dafs.
Hi Bill, nice to see you. Not caught up up any other goings on but suspect most people are busy in at the garden, I've just come in for a quick break and to post a couple do questions......something is wrong with my big old apple tree
I feel like I'm going round in circles, so far planted out about 25 sunflowers of 4 varieties, Cosmos and Lavatera. Now to start on the pots of tomatoes and dwarf beans......feel like I'll never be finished
For all those that think I'm very tidy!!! Stuff everywhere, but it's organised mess.......honest
Lovely Bill. Afternoon all. On the subject of why don't the slugs and snails eat the weeds, which I think I put on another thread a couple of months back, well.... they do! I am clearing the paddock and extending the cultivated part of the garden which mainly includes cutting back nettles, thistles, dandelions and docks, and I have come across lots of snails on the weeds, munching away on the weeds. I just chuck them further down the paddock. l have also disturbed and spoiled a rodent's nest, when I pulled some black plastic sheeting away. I think they are moles (Mr Bee's arch enemy) but they may be rats. I don't know what to do. These little pinkish baby things are wriggling in the sun, and the flies are landing on them, sensing death. No point moving them somewhere else. Just nature at its most painful Mr Bee will be pleased that they won't get to adulthood though. Am kind of hoping that a bird of prey might have had them while I've been indoors - kinder in the long run and they will have gone to some use in the greater scheme of things.
Hi Bill, lovely to hear from you pleased you finally have Spring, lovely bulbs. Hope you & Mrs Bill are okay. Nothing wrong with having a rest, I call it thinking time I usually have my rest before I start.
My outdoor bush toms ( Dave) in pots were looking extremely wet and weren't draining well, new containers and I was doubful about number of drainage holes. Solution I've cradled the toms and held containers whilst OH has drilled more holes up through the bottom. Both of us slightly wet
Some blighter has chomped my meconopsis, now that is taking the mickey (notice how polite I was) The spare runner beans on patio on staging have also been chomped, can't see the culprit, but I will find it, woman on a mission.
Lily beetle on GH floor, now a nice splodge, think it was sheltering from the rain Plus I kid you not I have drowned worms in the water at the side of the garden path, at least Father Blackbird won't have to work to hard to provide tea for his family.
I'm a very happy Dove The Under gardener said that he would shovel and barrow all the topsoil to fill my two new raised beds and while he was doing it he found a toadlet it is now in the little wilderness under a large piece of broken flowerpot - this garden is amazing
We've also been accompanied by a young blackbird who isn't at all wary of humans and is grabbing every opportunity to take a late lunch if we uncover something tasty.
