  • Hello folks!

You have before you a Retired (and very tired) Person

I've had a brilliant day - it started memorably with being stuck in a traffic jam while Chris Evans played Beatles songs while I sang along - a large heron flew low over the car just as I left home and I saw another as I drove along the riverside . Now the house is like a cross between a florist's and a off-licence with a bit of garden centre thrown in. I've been flash-mobbed by a load of social workers singing the Goodbye Song from the Sound of Music in the pouring rain, I've had so many flowers including a lovely arrangement from the County Service Manager and his partner who I used to volunteer with, also lovely tulip bulbs, and some Garden Vouchers.

Old friends turned up as well as current colleagues turning up on non-working days to see me off.

When I got home OH and I let off a huge firework in the garden then sat down to a meal he'd cooked, of Toulouse sausages with roasted squash, beetroot, onion and peppers with Puy lentils and a balsamic dressing

Then he made a Blueberry Eton Mess

It was all wonderful and now I'm flolloped on the sofa with a glass of Rioja
