On a train home from fab fab day at Chelsea - thanks to Fairy, whose wand worked wonders. Loved most of it especially the telegraph garden - could have stood and gazed at those blues and lime greens for ever (note from Chicky's sisters - she DID stand there 4ever), Cleve West's blues and purples, and Hope for heroes and the Potters garden which were just simply lovely. Went for a meal afterwards and had lots of laughs.
Might post some pics tomorrow - signal not good enough now.
Great to see the Bressingham gang had fun too. BTW I might be up for Barnsdale if I can sneak in a day off work.
Morning all Glad to see everyone's been having Bressingham and Chelsea fun, I'm looking forward to the PICTURES (hint hint!). Sun has just come up here in Worcestershire, I'm hoping that I'll get some stuff done today. Some pots and hanging baskets to do and some more weeding at the top of the garden which is very overgrown. My lovely poppy has bloomed, might post a pic on the garden gallery. Peonies are threatening to burst any day now, it's driving me mad again, just like last year.
A good night's sleep has been had, but inspection reveals that despite sun cream and hat my neck and upper shoulders resemble a boiled lobster
OL, don't be impressed - although I am a knitter, I didn't knit that hat - it was a present I've had sitting around a while as it's tight on my head and I don't do 'tight' on my head.
Chicky, so glad you had a lovely time at Chelsea - I was watching MD last night talking about the judging process and one of the judges explaining that he thought that sometimes the public didn't feel the same way about individual gardens as the judges did because they couldn't experience them by being 'in' them, and that on the tv we had the nearest experience to the judges - I wondered how you felt about that?
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Morning All - need more sleep. My head is still dreaming of flowers, and instead i've got to go to work
Dove - it is true that TV gives you a better close up view of the show gardens, but TV doesn't do justice to the colours, or the light and shade, or the real "feel" of some of them. I think it was Chris Beardshaw that said earlier in the week that the judges judge on technical excellence, whereas the public judge on whether they would like to open the curtains in the morning and find that garden there. I think that sums it up quite well.
Note to self - i say it every year, but this time i must invest in some anchusa Lodden Royalist - what a blue
