All this talk of Glasgow reminds me I will be going up on Sunday to Balloch on Loch Lomond. I used to commute daily from various parts of Glasgow to East Kilbride before moving to the soft South. Finally found an umbrella useful when I came down here, not much call for one in East Kilbride where the rain and snow come horizontally!

Beechgrove Garden used to be a TV highlight when I lived in Glasgow and it is great to see it again as a reminder of regional variations in climate and gardening conditions. Aye, and the tatties!

Bill glad you are with us. I'll send you some sun to melt that snow. x

steephill...EK always suffers in winter! I'm about half way between  EK and Glasgow. I'll try and sort the weather for you  but I don't think it's looking too promising image My BIL is from nearby Balloch. Small world isn't it? Any hillwalking in the West Highlands meant heading that way for the Loch Lomond road. image

Bill - lovely to 'see' you and so glad you'll stay with us all here.  image I hope the snow doesn't stay with you for months. My aunt lived near Vancouver - although she'd moved about a bit as my uncle was in the Canadian Air Force.   They met during the war, and she moved over there permanently. She often sent photos of the ultra snowy winters.

Thank you KEF. Isn't it pretty and furry? Mine is pale purple, but as I said it's disappearing under the rapidly multiplying cyclamen, which I must do something about. Took years for the cyclamen to get going and now they've even gone over the wall into the garden rubbish area!

So much for the nice day we were promised here - hail and rain again now  image

Pasque flowers are lovely. I can highly recommend them.  I've got some purples, and a white one. The white one is very furry looking just now image

Lizzie - did you say something to upset them?...image

Not good Fairy. Is the wand broken? Hope you've been out & now come home.

Lizzie I don't have Cyclamen, something I don't like about them, they are a bit like houseplants, well I know they can be, but they just don't thrill me. Especially now I have Hellebore fever. image

Yes home  now KEF. Relatively painless as daughter came across to meet me near Charing Cross. image

Just got the washing in before the hail and sleet  came thrashing down!  image

Hi all, just been to the 'compost heap' which needs the inverted commas. Artjak would be horrified.

It's looking lovely. Some snowdrops, some (probably)  tete a tete narcissi, something that has white flowers and a leaf with a stripe up the middle like a crocus, not flowering yes. For later I see some daylilies and some lamium, brunnera. Lovelyimage

I'm getting this garden under control this yearimage I've just got the thyroid tablets so all things are possible,

Its been relatively nice here today apart from the rain this afternoon. Nothing compared to the horrendous hail storm yesterday!

Hoping to get out into the garden to pot up my summer bulbs that have just arrived. This is the right time to put into pots in the greenhouse? First time i've grown them.

Other than that need to source a Hammamelis and Daphne to add to my garden.

Bill - that was a lovely gesture by your son.

Nice to see all the bulbs starting to come through. Nutcutlet - your 'compost heap' area sounds lovely with all the Spring bulbs.
