There is a NT recipe book by Sybil Kapoor called Simply Baking - it's got some good recipes in, but there's one flaw identified - I think they use her recipe for Lemon Drizzle - it's more like the one we were presented with - it is certainly not a proper one. No lemon and sugar syrup to pour over after pricking the top with a skewer - just a lemon icing
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
well its very wet and windy here in the lakes but im not moaning realy we have been very lucky compared to the rest of the country this winter its just that i cant decide if i should go into the shed and sow some seeds now that ive sorted out the problems with the propagtor or should i bake a cake and make some pastry ready for a ham and chicken pie for tea tomorrow
any way onward and upwards as Eric Robinson would say
Morning all Not the weather today I was hoping for Have a friend coming for coffee in a bit and was hoping we could sit outside (so not much tidying required indoors) but fear my plans with come to nothing OH is off out this arvo leaving us ladies to chat away
I for one am pleased that the Forum team have stepped in the weekend and seem to have sorted our 'problem'. Let's get back to cake and gardening!
Morning all.....I'm here and it's definitely me.....no hangover, headache or anything YIPPEE. I've been reading but was waiting for my tea and cake, have settled for coffee and cooked breakfast instead!!
No sunshine here, grey, miserable and windy so no gardening and no bike ride. I am going to get my chillies today and plant them though and some more sweet peas.
I'll also get on my laptop later and upload some pics I've taken this week.
I'm not dwelling on yesterday's events (both off and on forum), it's a new day so I'll just move on
Dove that is just a lemon cake if it's not drizzled then surely
Yes, the recipe says the icing should 'drizzle down the sides' .............. wrong!
Fidget - re modding of threads - I think that would be fine for us old hands, but new posters would be very vulnerable to manipulation and it gives the trolls and wums power, which is just what they want - one could start and control hundreds of threads and if we'd Ignored him/her we wouldn't know and be able to report to Daniel.

That's a poor excuse for a lemon drizzle cake Dove
Let's start a revolution....they can take our lemon cake - but they can never take our drizzle....
Sorry. This Independence thing is starting to affect me more than I thought....
Horrible day here - wind, rain, cold. Rain/hail battering on the windows and doors last night so I didn't sleep too well. Don't think I'll be doing any gardening today somehow
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
