Morning all, woke late, but have fed the horses in the mud, poor things. At least it's only shallow in the winter paddock, limestone rock underneath. 10 days heavy rain forecast here.

The photos on the previous page are horrendous, saw it on the news. A friend of mine lived in Dawlish before they moved to France, her daughter nearly bought one of those houses. So sad for Somerset too, all those animals being moved from the farms. I hope the farmers get compensation and help.

Steady on pd. We don't want you having a relapse image

Bl- it's taken a ridiculous amount of time for the politicians to recognise that the people in Somerset are in a lousy situation. I think it's despicable, and at the risk of being controversial, why are we constantly sending aid to other countries (often wealthy enough ones) when people here need it urgently? And of course, the price of everything will go up because farmers' land is devastated, but it will affect poorer people most.  'All in it together' ?  Yeah right.

I'll get off my soapbox now, you'll be glad to hear image

  • Good morning all (just) - Broadband has been re-instated by two very helpful Virgin engineers image

An immense amount of knitting happened yesterday.

Also, I think we can all expect the weather to be fine and dry in Cambridgeshire on Sunday as yesterday I went out and purchased a new jacket guaranteed to be 100% waterproof - if Sod's Law is in operation that should also guarantee a dry day image

It was an absolute bargain - £199.99 reduced to £69.99 - and it has some sort of things on the shoulders that, should I be buried in an avalanche, will help the rescue team identify where I am and get me out quickly - just what I need for Cambridgeshire image

I've been following several farms down South on the powers that be Twitter who have been badly affected by the floods - evacuating the animals with no chances of saving anything "homely" as of course the animals come first. Its absolutely awful to watch and feel so powerless especially as I don't even have any funds to send down their way. I just wish I was an eccentric millionaire who could at least ensure that catering trucks were made available to ensure everyone was getting proper meals as it must be near impossible to do anything but grab and run. image

Hoping the weather dries up soon for everyone. It should at least be dry and warm up here from the 15th as I'll be collecting my 4x4 and you can near guarantee whenever I buy / do something to prepare myself for the worst the exact opposite happens.

Hoping to install the pond pump this weekend (temporary fix until we can sink the cables in permanently) and build some fish hides ready to acquire some pond weed from my parents next weekend and then bring the fish back from their holidays the weekend after. We'll put the final finishes to the pond in a few months but you'll be pleased its already start to look less like a shipping lane and more like a properly sized pond.

If anyone's got the radio on - tune into Radio 2 and Jeremy Vine's show. Guess what they're talking about? Perhaps their ears were burning after my earlier rant....image

  • Clarington - totally agree - and it's not just the short term problems, it's the long term damage to the grazing, crops, buildings and infrastructure on the Somerset Levels - businesses are likely to go bankrupt image

Fg, thank you, if you would be so kind .... image

    Hello All

Not been here for a while as my Mum passed away. Still very feeling raw so will only pop in.

Not much else to say really except today seems to be a sunny day, next 'weather' due over the weekend.

Hope everyone is in one piece especially those near the coast

Matty, my deepest sympathies. Know what you're going through.

We're here for support when you need it. Think you probably know that already.
