I'm keeping my fingers very crossed re colds/flu etc. I've not really had one for ages - the occasional sinus thing but not a real cold. However, we're going to London week after next for a meet up with foodie forum friends for lunch - OH is convinced all colds are spread by using public transport ........ watch this space .............
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
morning persisting down out there, but might go for a walk anyway. Unlike Fairy, noone will need to be called out to rescue us on a hampshire heath, and I only have 2 more days of freedom before work, so want to make the most of them ......I can't say I am looking forward to going back. Not that I don't enjoy work ...i just enjoy holidays too.
Hope you get there soon Hosta - liked Crete when we were there, but not under those circumstances
Missed Sherlock last night - looks like it will need a clear head, so will attempt it once my cobwebs have been blown/washed away
Unlike Fairygirl no one has to be rescude from a Hampshire heath?
Chicky well for two weeks whilst stationed in Bordon we were on that heath rescuing people from fire. The fires would creep underground then suddenly burst out, we had to get people out fast as the winds fanned the fires. They were on all parts of the heath, we would be dropped off and digging fire breaks then it would be behind us. We slept were we could, ate when the cook wagon got to us or else wonderful people fed us. I learned to fear fire and also it was unstoppable in some cases, one minute all calm next the mouth of hell.
Fair warning Frank. Not sure there will be heathfires on Ludshott Common today, but adders are always present, so you're right, never completely safe.
I've seen what the heath fires can do round here too - both Frensham and Thursley have suffered in my time here - and it is truly humbling what can happen when they take hold. When was your time in Bordon? Sounds pretty nightmarish. Glad you were able to protect people.
No - Fairy didn't have to be rescued, but she might do if she was daft enough to set out in weather like today's. But she's not (that) daft, so the rescue teams are free to save others' skins.

Have noticed the pic that caused the upset has now disappeared.
Think Daniel popped in for a few minutes

I'm here Pauline - I don't usually go up anything I can't get back down, and I'll turn back if it looks iffy - that's the Golden Rule
Do you need flippers instead of your boots today chicky?
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
