We've got a lovely view from our window at the moment - the slightly waning moon hanging in a misty grey western sky - so still and calm.

  • Morning to all, afties to Pat.

Hope everyone is going to enjoy abit of a ' breather' today and get time to gather their strenght before the New Year jollies begin!

Our ' lot' are gradually taking their leave of us and returning to their parts of the country, eldest went yesterday and was quite concerned at what was being shown on the news of Manchester under water.

We are supposed to be in for a dry day today ( fingers crossed) , so I plan to give my 38 new plants a home and hope they settle in well before the cold snap arrives.....which I'm sure it will!

Just looked up to see a beautiful red sky......red sky in the morning, sheppards warning!!! Better cross my fingers tighter!

Lovely photo Jo, but also brings home the awful truth of just how bad things are for some poor folk too.

Have a fab day all x

Just getting light here.  The M1 was on a go slow yesterday where it crosses the Trent. That usually means that everyone is rubbernecking the state of the flood plain, when it floods. Thats what a flood plain is for. Its not building land, even if it does look idyllic in summer. I'm less than a 100 yards from the river Erewash, but up a hill.  The road outside tends to look like a river when it rains, but all the drains were cleared a couple of weeks ago, so we should be OK. To complete the year of parties, I'm off to a Birthday party today.

Have a good day folks. Keep safe and warm.

  • Very true Jo, love your red sky too.

  • Runnybeak - each to their own, very much so. I just find it intriguing that he has such a fanbase when I wouldn't consider him to be classically good looking. I guess he has other attributes!

Sticking with the subject of Turners, people were mentioning sunsets earlier. Useless fact, Turner and his ilk painted amazing sunsets due to the weather disruptions caused by the eruption of Krakatoa. Also responsible for the mini ice age that gave us all of the frozen Thames images from late Victorian times.

Which brings me to the weather, hope it is settling down for people.

    Morning all.
Steve, women often go for the rugged dangerous looking ones rather than the classically good looking. I think Aidan Turner has a lot of sex appeal and gorgeous eyes. But the Poldark unshaven look suits his mouth better.

Family arrive tomorrow, 17 of them, including babies. Still haven't finished making beds.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

    Morning Flowers and Fidget.

I'd like to tell Jo that we have just finished our Barley Risotto. Hubby was very impressed and we'll definitely do it again. I think the roasting of the vegetables gave it an extra flavour, as well.  thanks for the suggestionimage
