I've been watching news too on floods, really shocking and so sad for the people affected. I used to live in Yorkshire and know some of the towns mentioned really well, makes it seem all the more real too.
Guests have checked out, they were really happy with everything and have promised to come back next year.
Next lot not checking in until Tuesday so have a chance to relax for a couple of days. I need it too, a cold has developed now just as my back was starting to ease - think I might go and lie down in a darkened room for a few days.
Have a good day all, enjoy your walks Fairy and Jo and Hosta, you have my sympathy too.

I was going to chat away about my last two days activities but not really in the mood after reading the news about floods, fires, accidents and all the awful things people are having to endure.
Lovely bright sunny morning here, I'm going to take the dog for a walk, it will do both of us good, we both need to work off some calories. She will be surprised, she doesn't get many walks, but has the run of our large garden, but doesn't enjoy being out there in the cold and wet. We are surrounded by open country, but it can be hard to get her out - in wet weather, and there's been a lot of that this year, it is very muddy, swampy even, and there are stiles to negotiate; these days she needs a bit of a leg up with them too. The farm track is easier walking, but all summer the farmer had his nursing cows grazing there and I refuse to take a dog amongst cows with calves, it really isn't a good idea! She's fine with sheep, used to them, as we've reared many lambs in the house. She loathes the car, so would get upset if we drove her elsewhere to walk - she turns into a ginger jelly as soon as you put her inside
Our dog loves to go out in the car, we don't know how she can tell the difference between us getting ready to go out for the day with her and just getting ready to go somewhere without her but she always does
Jo, most of the cows are fine, but one or two of them are less docile and some are very protective of their babies. I can cope with my rams trying it on, stamping their feet and lowering their heads at me, a tap on the end of their nose usually puts a stop to that, but a cow is simply too BIG to have doing that, and I don't want to be in their way if they decide I or the dog are too close! There was a black one with white horns, we used to call Evil Cow as she was always 'nowty', calf or not, and she didn't like to back down even if I was in the car. Fortunately she is no longer around now.
It is nice to have a dog on a walk, you notice things some things you might not otherwise and I can tell when the hares might have been around by where she finds a 'sniff', but I have a better chance of spotting wildlife on my own. Toffee is a rather clumsy, unobservant dog and the cats have a much better sense of smell
