Evening all. Your weather sounds very bad in Scotland. Hope all are OK.
lilyp, the shops do shut at lunch time on Saturday and don't open again until Monday here in our local town, even the hardware shop which is the only one that sells plants, etc. no garden centres here. You'd think they would open weekends, wouldn't you? We noticed that on the Easter long weekend when lots of people were visiting the district that we couldn't find a coffee shop open except for the fast food outlets such as McDonalds and Kentucky Fried. I can't understand their thinking. They complain about the town dying, nbut can't make the effort to open in tourist times! Der! Don't get me started.
Flumpy, you naughty girl. I'm not allowed those sorts of delish things anymore. You too Dove. Naughty, naughty. My mouth is watering. Perhaps I should get up,and have some breakfast.
Morning Pat. It does seem strange that you don't have shops open over weekends. As you say, tourist trade will be non existent if everywhere's shut. We've had Sunday opening for a long time here (Scotland) so it would be hard to get used to that. I know there are lots of areas of England which are against it happening though.
Those mince pies do look lovely. Not a fan of shop bought ones - far too sweet and sickly.
The Bridge is on now so I'm off.Catch you all tomorrow at some point if I'm not blown away
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Fairygirl, enjoy the Bridge. I must get Hubby to bring it back up for us ( the first two) . Wouldn't hurt to see it again.
i think the shop shuttings are just shop owners being lazy. Especially coffee and garden type places. They complain about the town dying, but aren't prepared to make the extra effort. Our local council is pretty useless too. They could get a few plans together and have trial runs of openings and get the district involved. Never mind, Hubby is using internet buying more and more, and I suppose it's a sign of the times. I even have to go to Canberra or Queanbeyan to buy knitting yarn etc.
i suppose I could make the effort to get back to spinning my mohair. (Which is sitting in plastic bins still raw from the goats back). Maybe that would be a good thing while it's too hot to garden. It's about time I had a sort out of various jobs.

I'd been wondering about Bushman too Fairy. Hope he's on higher ground.
Your mince pies look perfect Dove. Wish I could get mine to look like that.
I got most of the Christmas cards written. Just the ones to hand out to local people now.
Let's hope the forecast is right and tomorrow will be a better day.

I hope no one is flooded.
I hope everyone is OK. The weather up north looks awful. No rain here, just a bit gusty.

Phew. That's done and boy is it hot out there. I'm not going back out unless I have to.
