Above discussion interesting - partly because some of the children/young people I worked with had complex endocrine problems and took Metformin, and partly because I get strange 'low sugar wobbles' about two hours after eating white bread/rice etc during the day - perfectly ok if I eat simple carbs for supper, but white toast for breakfast or lunch, or rice cakes for lunch and two hours later I'm having a cold sweat and feeling light-headed and have to eat some carbs in order to feel better. Have been checked for diabetes and metabolic syndrome and am fine (although I do have the high BP and need to lose some weight). So I just don't eat simple carbs during the day.
Also re depression/anxiety - we have a family member who suffers from this and has recently been diagnosed with manic depression/bi-polar. It's such a relief for them to have a name for this distressing condition and an explanation for the way they have acted in some difficult situations. Things are improving slowly now with treatment and support A less stressful work situation would help ...
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Fairy, just over a week so no need to worry yet. But coughs are annoying! You enjoy the syrups?? I have to take them by the sink because I gag and want to throw up! They make me feel unwell just thinking about them. Ugggghhhhhh.
Wandered around the garden: oh dear the winds are not being gentle on it!
Fairygirl wrote (see)...... I love cough medicine - the aniseedy ones. Is that weird?
Does anyone remember Liquafruita cough mixture? I loved it. Ma used to keep the bottle on top of her wardrobe to hide it from us, but very occasionally I climbed on a chair and took a swig

Morning all. I remember Liquafruita.I like Benelyn but you can't buy it in France. French cough syrups taste disgusting and aren't usually even syrupy or soothing.
I've lost 5lbs in the last 3 weeks, cut down on wine and am eating normally but carefully 5 days and very low calorie but lots of veg and salad on 2 days. Before when I've been on diets I've got hungry and I haven't lost much after the first week. Body compensates because of the diet. But with this one body doesn't seem to realise it's on a diet.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Morning all just got a wonderful scent walking down our front steps, and on closer inspection realised our Daphne (JP) is flowering a whole month earlier than usual. Heavenly
Mr C goes in for (hopefully) his last stent tomorrow, so won't be around much for a couple of days. He has been back to his old self for the past week or so, so although it will be a shame to have him sofa-bound again, at least we know there is light at the end of the tunnel, and it is getting closer all the time
Morning all, not a good start to the day, got up early to go and get my talons sorted, when I got there the appt was for 10 not 9. Also realised that my MOT was due 4 weeks ago so have got it booked in for tomorrow . Due to have a minor sugery this afternoon but have had to cancel has I have a cold.
That's 3 things maybe the rest of the day will be OK.
Gee's Linctus was my favourite, was always pretending to cough when I was a kid so I could get a spoonful.

It used to come in different flavours. I never understood the ones who wanted the extra strong with garlic

Lizzie that's the one I was trying to think of, Benelyn
. I loved that. Also used to like Victory V's until they changed the recipe.
