Hello P'doc - you were posting while I was typing.
So sorry to hear about your SIL. I'm sure she'll find your support very helpful. As a patient you often forget to ask some important questions or don't quite understand what's being said - so you'll be able to take that strain away from her.
Hope OH's bracelet turns up soon - it's there somewhere. I've turned out more bins looking for stuff than I care to admit. Assuming it's a metal do you know anybody with a detector who could help?
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
Sorry about your SIL Punkdoc. My son had a thyroid cancer scare two years ago but was a nodule and had most of the thyroid removed. You'll know much better than me but if it's any consolation it's one of the better cancers to have (if there is such a thing).
There was a little on the news yesterday about the bush fires in Southern Australia. Really terrifying.
I'm also worried about Verdun. Has he been in touch since Ed was in Newquay?
Lesley, yes, he's not bad, is he? You'd think after 43 years I'd be able to say more, but I'm a bit lost for words - he's been pretty handy in the kitchen as well, while I was sick.
GWRS. I always read Alan's page first. Puts me in a good mood for everything else. sometimes I think I can even hear his voice, the way he writes.
Punkdoc, you can't take a trick at the moment. At least you're able to understand the details about the thyroid and potential treatment.
Topbird, you beat me to suggesting getting a friend with a metal detector. The M25 sounds horrendous.
Hi Pottie Pam, you snuck in there while I was typing. Yes the fires are bad and they still don't know how many dead in SA. Also on the bushfire site that Hubbby follows, there are also fires now near Jervis Bay, NSW. TV News is more interested in sport than these types of reports, so we often only get a brief line at the bottom of the screen on TV.
doc- I hope that's your share of rubbish times well and truly over for a long time, and that you find the bracelet.
KEF - frankly, it was an insult to weasels calling him that....
GWRS - I always saved MrT's page till I'd had a skim too - it was my favourite bit, although I love James A Sinclair's writing. I think he's fantastic - so witty
Hosta - have you used the new camera yet? We're waiting ......
After saying yesterday I hadn't seen a single chaffinch since I moved back here - there was one in the birdcage when I came home for lunch
Back to the salt mines for me. See you all later
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Still trying to get to sleep, but Hubby emailed me some photos of the fire trail they were checking today. here is one which shows trees down in the trail which had to be cut and moved.

Afternoon everyone, Didn't get to sleep until about 3 this morning so didn't get up until 11.30
I suppose the day will be all out of sorts now.
Dark and dismal here but at least it isn't raining. Have to pop and see mum in a minute but other than that the day is mine.
Sorry to hear your bad news P'doc.
Off for a browse round. Stay safe everyone.
