Tracey, Japonica means of Japan. image Like Fatsia Japonica, which is an evergreen shrub from Japan. Lily means the variety.

Someone will explain better, I'm in a rush and might confuse you, I do that to myself image

Off to Farm shop & plant container hunting. BFN

Just got washing in as the horizontal hail and snow came on...image

Amazing how quickly towels can dry in a bit of sun and an arctic wind image

Wish this stupid teacher from my daughter's school would hurry up and phone so I can go out. Getting angrier by the minute, especially because of the reason. Yes - just get pupils to drop a subject - don't even let them sit the exam because the prelim mark is low and they may not pass, which won't reflect well on the school.  What happened to letting people learn by failing now and again? 'Oh but we're all winners' they get told from the age of three. Ludicrous. It's all about league tables... image

May have to go on KEF's ranty pants thread now.

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Go for it Fairy -ridiculous that your daughters opportunities should be constrained by the school's fear of failure - what happened to the "helping them be the best that they can be" ??

Glad you had a good break Lizzie - I'm sure with sons that age your daughter appreciated a helping hand.

Tracey - i love camellias - if it hasn't got a name you should name it yourself !

On my lunch break - sunny here - just been to GC to buy seeds for somerset image

KEF, thanks for explaining. A couple of people have referred to me as not a newbie t's week,mi think I can safety now say that I most definitely am still a newbie!!  So, the camellia is of the 'pink' variety image It has no name but I might just call it Japanese Girl image Or Newbie image

FG, I can totally empathise with you, we have had issues on and off with the boy's school, although I have to admit of late they have been brilliant.  They have now decided though to introduce KS4 from year 9, no doubt to improve results for the league table, this means that my 12 year old son gas to decide what options he wants to take for GCSE next week.....he is 12 years old for goodness sake!!! image

Oooooh, I almost forgot - my snowdrops are here, Yip yip yippppeeeeeeeee image

Well I shall have a big sulk, cos my snowdrops aren't here yet.image

Went to a nursery this morning and bought 4 hellebores for £3.95 each YAY!  2 white and 2 a sort of burgandy  colour, can't remember names, will look later. Also some primroses. The lady gave me 6 extra free. (free ones looked a bit sorry for themselves, but can only hope)

Fairy, I can remember when 1st son was in hospital having his tonsils out, the children in his class each made him a get well card. When I went in to pick them up, his teacher told me I could only have some of them and that she would make the others make them again because their writing wasn't good enough and it would reflect on the school!  They were only just SIX!! I told her politely that I would take them anyway. Lol!

FG - that's awful! Hope you managed to get your call back from the school. School is supposed to be supporting their students - as Chicky said
