Thank you for your kind wishes re Mum. She's very confused and shaken up, but otherwise apparently unhurt - hopefully nothing a good night's sleep won't sort out. She was glad of company though. So glad you're Mum is doing ok, Yvie!
That candlelit service sounds very moving, Verdun. It's good to have had such universal local support for the family.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Lily - Pashley isn't NT, but well worth a visit. As Lizzie said, tea on the terrace is pretty special
Lizzie - Sarah Raven's is only open a few days a year (thats why our weekend away was organised for that particular weekend). Its very nicely done - productive (veg and cutting garden flowers) but attractive too. Not as many eye popping colour combinations as I expected, having read her "bold and beautiful" book - but inspiring just the same.
Topbird - bike ride sounds brill . As you say, life without adventure sucks !!
Not been on today, as in the middle of a very nasty argument with neighbour and have been taking legal advice.
What makes it so frustrating, is that there are only 4 houses where we live surrounded by fields and Moors and for 25 years whoever has lived here gets on and accepts that it is slightly different living here and that there has to be some sort of community spirit.
Then a new family move in 2 years ago and everything changes. Thing have been getting steadily worse for some time, but this weekend reached a very unpleasant crescendo.
I am not normally a violent man, but........
Rant over, Gin is being consumed, just need to stay sober long enough to cook supper and wait for unhappy OH to return from work.
Hope everyone is well.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
How awful Pdoc - hope you get it sorted. We have had neighbour problems in the past and it was a horrible place to be. Maybe the reminder of how to display a bit of common courtesy might work in the long run (for some people it seems to take a while to sink in) .....but there might be a time lag whilst they strive to show they are not backing down. Keep strong and hang on in there. Out-nice them !!
Fidget - I just LOVE some of these spell-checkisms
P'doc - I feel for you. Neighbour disputes are very unpleasant, draining and can become all-consuming. Hope you can keep a sense of perspective and not let it drag you down too much (much easier said than done - I know from experience). Sounds as though it is the new people who are the problem - are your longer established neighbours involved as well? It's always nicer to have some allies....
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
Oh Punkdoc, how awful for you, especially difficult in such a small community. I do hope you can get though it without resorting to violence - but if not, make sure you win.
I was reading an article in the Telegraph earlier about warring neighbours, one saw red and took a JCB to the others causing £9000's worth of damage, he is very sorry now with the fine and the jail sentence, we don't want the same happening to you.
