didn't samuel johnson in his first dictionary define oats as :

Oats: A grain, which in England is generally given to horses, but in Scotland appears to support the people.

Hosta - I take it you like yours a bit riper! I used to work with someone who called them ' giraffey' once they got the brown bits on the skin.  image

They rarely get to that stage in my house. If they do - I make this

I like them when they just start to go giraffey. Not too giraffey though, and my ex wife used to make a fab banana cake like yours when they went too brown.

It's the texture when they're green, they kinda stick to the inside of your mouth. image

My girls, especially the youngest,  can't understand why I like them them that way. I quite like that 'indigestion inducing' hardness, when they're really unripe image

I love banana cake - I don't make it often as I could eat the entire thing myself. Come to think of it - I took one on holiday and no one else had any... image  image

we have a customer who orders them 5 kilos at a time and puts in the comment box

    " yes I do mean 5 kilos , not 5 bananas"

Her hubby eats about 4 a day

    Devon.
  • My mum did that once - ordered several kilos of bananas by mistake.  We had banana everything for a few weeks.

This was my afternoon treat.... image
