Good morning Chicky and everyone else when they arrive
Sunshine and blue sky here but a bit cooler overnight - down to 8.8C
OH has agreed that while we're away the tomato plants should be in the studio - the slightly warmer temperatures should mean that they'll all be ripe by the time we get back
KEF hope that if the bu$$ers came back Clarri got them with her hosepipe and that it was spouting bright purple dye - then, when I see them
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
I hope you get them, Kef. My garage roof is covered in butyl. I cant see vandals wanting that. At one of the shops, we had a flat roof extension, and some of the local kids were climbing up a drainpipe and using the flat roof as a hangout place. We covered the drainpipe above 6ft with antivandal paint. Black stuff like tar that doesnt set. Believe it or not, the week after I had an irate mother wanting to know what I was going to do about her little darlings ruined jeans and jumper. Sod all was the polite answer. We then added razor wire, but we had to have a recommendation from the police and planning permission for it. Can you replace it with something else and does your insurance cover the cost? I know nothing covers the time wasted and inconvenience caused.
Yesterday I picked five and a half pounds of damsons from a tree overhanging my garden. I simmered them and then seived to give four pounds of puree. Today I am going to turn it into damson cheese, then I have to finalise the wedding reception. The venue was sold to new owners three weeks ago, and their web site disappeared, so I had a bit of a panic. Only four weeks to go. I am about to turn into bridezilla.
Morning all, thanks for the offers and suggestions. We've had a poor nights sleep periodically checking out of the window
Pyracantha in the garage gutters and all neighbours aware and closed their gates. I'm expecting a call back from the police later today. When I spoke to them yesterday they asked if the thieves had taken one of my wheelie bins seems they often use them to take the lead away
OH has decided to remove the remaining lead and use something else, his friend will help him.
Lesley, thanks. Me too. The trouble is, you never know what bugs get passed on to you when out shopping, but you can hardly walk around with plastic gloves.
I forced myself to get moving a while ago and went out and put cloches over all the brassicas. I just KNOW the cabbage whites are going to try to take over the whole garden. They are going to have a fight on their little noses and b..ts.!
Dove: my hose pipe puts out 400 gallons in under 4 minutes and can knock over an adult with ease. Purple dye and bruises would be a good indicator they'd been up to no good.
Must have been getting cold last night his lordship was grumping that he might need to put the heating on. He did not seem impressed when I suggested a jumper.
Fidget: I am unfortunately not surprised at your parents response. Some things you hear about parents trying to blame everything but their own way of bringing up their child are... disturbing.
Our garage is attached to the house with an angled roof and slate, the lead was where the slates meet the house. The part they nicked is above the electric meter in the garage so it needs sorting pronto. Insurance will cover it but it's come at a bad time as we go away in a week and now not feeling very happy about leaving the house. Added to this mum doesn't live too far away and her home is pretty private and she has lots of lead We live on a busy road and they still took ours.

Good morning all
I wouldn't like to cross you Dove
. Good job I didn't go for a purple rinse
. Hope you are insured for that KEF and you never have the like again.
Fidget the mother wanting you to do something about her little darling's clothes made me laugh in disbelief
Chicky the talk sounded interesting - you'll be an expert in answering the often asked query of 'is it dangerous to have/grow this in my garden?'
Hope you're not in for a bout of something Pat. Wrap up well and rest when you need to.
We've got a tree surgeon coming today about two overgown trees in the front garden.
Have a good day all
