Did anyone go on the steam train around the Nursery garden at Bressingham? We did, it was all rather sad. There were acres of polytunnels and fields where they grew plants and it's all empty (apart from weeds) and neglected. They are waiting for a new tenant.
We went to son No 2's for lunch today, so I got to see my 2 baby grandsons.
Then a friend called round after we got home.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Nice to hear the buzz following your Bressingham visit. Must check out that website... not that I've got room for any more plants...
Just warming up after a very soggy afternoon in the garden, picking pounds of wet raspberries and tying up the new canes which had flopped as a result of the heavy rain. It's a good thing we like raspberry jam, cos I've made 6lb so far and there'll be more by the time the season is over - plus there's still some left from 2013 as well as last year. And yes, I do give it away to the children, the neighbours and the Church sale!
Well, I've got my furry winter slippers on tonight... and our heating's come on, too. It's about time we had some summer!
Is it ok to have a hot water bottle in July???
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Just watched Alan T (normally a fan) .....since when were olive and lemon trees hardy in Hull ?? Lots of shouting at the TV going on In our living room.
Then caught up with the autistic gardener, which was inspirational. So I can now go up to bed with a smile
Getting up not such a struggle this morning.....by Friday I will have cracked it
Just having the last of our blueberries with my cereal - bumper crop this year - the netting really paid off. Not long before the autumn raspberries start too - keeps breakfast interesting.
Busy day ahead, OH's dentist this morning, hairdressers this afternoon and reverse parallel parking this evening and work wanted me to cover sickness, yeah riiiiight
It's dry outside!!! well, dry-ish anyway, and the sun is shining, even if there are some grey rather than white clouds dotted over the blue ......... quite breezy and 13C ..... wonder what the day will bring?
We had our first meal of runner beans last night - I don't remember picking them in July for a very long while - quite chuffed
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Chicky you weren't the only one shouting at the TV last night. What were they thinking?
Hope today goes well Winter - especially the parking
Rb your day yesterday sounded lovely and I'm sure OH will have had a lovely birthday.
Yesterday afternoon we found out we CAN go on holiday today. Mum's doc is not sending her to hospital (as threatened) but will have another week of antibiotics and she's feeling brighter and insisting that we go. I'll go down as soon as we're back. Lots of rushing about and packing to do this morning.
