Garden is open on Sunday. Done masses of weeding and planting and Matty has helped with rest periods. But today I was digging out some very solid clay before digging in some better soil, manure and compost. Stepped over plants with very heavy trug of clay and coughed. Still have a cough. Think I've pulled a muscle in my ribcage. Hurts. Coughing is not helping. Ouch.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Like your sign, Fidget! Might be tempted when the dandelions re-grow in the lawn...
Fairy, I don't use lawn weedkiller because I like most of the weeds... celandine, daisies, violets etc are very pretty. But the neighbours get a bit sniffy about dandelions. Plus the lawn is really very small, so it's not a long job.
I do try not to be jealous of those of you in the south, but really! Today I was wearing 5 layers under my waterproof when doing my potting, but I was still cold. The problem is, I'm not a real northerner - was born & brought up in Herts. Prefer the scenery round here though.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Sweet little chicks Frit - look like they are doing well
Hope your open day goes well on Sunday Lizzie - remember to take lots of pics so that those of us on the other side of the channel can have a virtual visit. And hope you haven't done too much damage to your ribcage - sounds painful.
Good morning Hosta, Chicky, Fritillary and anyone else who pops in behind my back Lovely to see the chicks Frit reminds me of years ago collecting a box of day old Maran chicks from the station - the start of my flock on the smallholding. They were fostered by a lovely broody bantam - they grew quickly and did fantastically well - the foster mum was very proud of her very big babies
I hope today is warmer than yesterday - it only got up to 14.4C all day! Hmmmmmmmmm, I've checked the Met Office - looks like the rest of East Anglia will be a little bit warmer today - but for some reason our temps will stay around 14C for the next few days
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
There was hedgehog activity on the terrace last night - don't think it was Hefty - a smaller hedgehog by the 'evidence' but after a few nights of visiting the garden whoever it is seems to have discovered the feeding stations.

Ouch indeed, Lizzie! Take care!
Good Morning All
A photo of the chicks that we managed to hatch after the fox came visiting three weeks ago. We got 7 out of the nine eggs left.
Hope you all have a good day. Supermarket, granchildren and work for me today.
Morning all.

Hello Verdun and KEF
There was hedgehog activity on the terrace last night - don't think it was Hefty - a smaller hedgehog by the 'evidence' but after a few nights of visiting the garden whoever it is seems to have discovered the feeding stations.
