Supermarket this morning and then checked on the 30 cattle we turned out last week. Took a few photos to show you and also what went up over winter next to our fields. I think it covers around 65 acres.
Fritillary - love them - when we had the smallholding we used to rear 4 Hereford x bullocks every 12 months or so
I don't like the look of the solar parks, we've got several about here too, but at least when technology improves they'll be relatively simple to deconstruct, unlike these

B****y fox has been in the hen house took the head off of of the broody that we put the eggs under on Wednesday. Got nine eggs left so quickly put the incubator on.
Update on Shadow. Very little improvement but has got no worse and has stopped being sick at last, which I suppose is an improvement really. Managed a teaspoon of puppy food for lunch, couldn't get tablet in him but managed the medicine via a syringe. Still sleepy and definitely feeling very sorry for himself but I am not as worried as yesterday, honestly thought he was going to die he was so bad. Dove horrible what happened to Spangles, poor animals do suffer at the hands of thoughtless humans sometimes.
Some good news though, Charlie has come home from school with end of term report and it is positively glowing, 'A' s in grammar, comprehension, writing skills and reading, mathematics and science with some lovely words from the teacher. He has only been here a year, quite remarkable how fast young ones learn, he had hardly any French when we arrived, numbers, colours, greetings and that was about it.
OK that's enough showing off, if I can just get him to tidy his room, pick up his belongings after he has finished with them and not leave a trail of crumbs whenever he eats he'll be perfect. And of course not play football within a mile of my garden (OH says our garden, as in family garden, obviously I don't agree entirely).
Fritillary, sorry about your hen, cows are lovely though.
Hosta, glad your OH returned in time for lunch - oops. How could he forget a date with you, wasn't trying to get out of weeding was he.
Now off to see if I can have more joy with the tablets, might try in a piece of bread. Thanks again for all your kind words everyone.

Fritillary - so sorry about the fox - thank goodness you have the incubator - we didn't, we relied on some elderly bantams - we did have foxes around but the gander and the guinea fowl used to create such a noise if she came around and that would start the dogs off so we got off pretty lightly - she did get a couple of our ducks once, but they were particularly stupid ones.
DD, brilliant news abour Charlie , but don't hold your breath re tidy bedroom etc. Fingers still very crossed for Shadow ((hugs)).

My hostas are all peeking though now - thing we're getting showers soon - I'm going to put some of the 'nice' slug bait out in a minute. I've mowed and edged the front lawn and given it a 4 in 1 treatment to tackle the dandelions and hawkbit. I'm feeling very virtuous.

Rain is forecast for tonight here.
D.D. So sorry to read about Shadow. I hope he will soon be on the mend.
