I've had a lovely hour on the sofa reading my latest RHS magazine - Lots of East Anglian interest - Alan Gray of East Ruston Old Vicarage is now a regular columnist, and Adrian Bloom has a big feature on winter planting - some wonderful photos, and a feature on winter heathers. Verdun, if you haven't got a copy you'll have to get one somehow!
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Evening all, Didn't get any snow Bekkie it must have stayed in your neck of the woods. None in Worcester either. Son in law stayed at home today as he couldn't drive because he trapped a nerve in his shoulder and he couldn't move his neck to drive. Had to drive him to the doctors and he's now having to take diazapam. Meant I could come home a bit early tonight.
Really need the weather to warm up now so I can get cracking in the garden, get the rest tidied up and get some plants in the ground. I can't afford do much more planning, It's getting too expensive on the plant front. Off for a quick look round.
Glad you didnt get any snow Yvie, think there is more on the way tonight, the sky is a funny colour! That trapped nerve sounds painful, not much that can be done i suppose, bit at least you get to come home early
Snow still lying here - too cold for it to melt but positively tropical today. 2 below zero when I went to work and got all the way to zero later!
Busy making another suet feeder thingy to keep the starlings at bay. It's been quite effective, the blackbirds are scoffing lots of the stuff on the ground and getting through a couple of apples a day along with other bits and bobs. Two males in at the same time but one is a youngster. There's a female now and again so hopefully they'll hang about and visit regularly. Robin hardly even moves out the way when I put food out - he knows what side his bread's buttered.
I'll go and see what's happening elsewhere on the forum for a few mins
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
