Garden Girl I - I have 2 coldframes with just sand, 1 cold frame with earth but this year it has had weed matting on it and the cold frame in the shade has polystyrene on the bottom. When I have tenderish plants in them I put polystyrene around the walls too.

KEF, I have yet to find out what OH has done about recording Strictly. I hope it's OK or there won't be any curry until June! I feel for you.

3 of my coldframes aren't movable, built of bricks with air pockets in them.

  • Mine is not going to be moved it will stay in same place,  so is a cold frame warm enough with out polystyrene in for the plants

Thanks Busy-Lizzie  I will go for sand in the bottom

  • My cold frame has a gravel base which keeps most weeds down, and easy to pull those that do grow, Gg.
