Runnybeak - TWIGS stands Trips with Iceni Gardeners
The Iceni Gardeners are those of us who arrange gardening based days out in & around East Anglia. There is a small core who go regularly but the trips are always well advertised & open to anyone to come & join us.
The TWIGS were at Cambridge Botanic Gardens today - sadly I couldnt join in this time but hopefully will next time
(The Icenis were an East Anglian based Iron Age tribe - Boudicca & all that - but we are much friendlier )
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
Good morning Dove I've been awake for ages too and it's still too dark to take the dog out so I'll join you in another coffee. Did you have a good time yesterday?
Good morning Lesley Another coffee would be good We had a lovely time yesterday - the weather was fabulous - not a drop of rain until Snoodle and I got back to Norfolk, when the heavens opened and we were soaked! But at Cambridge the sun shone and we all peeled off layers of raincoats, scarves and woollies and were still too warm. We had a light lunch when we arrived and cake and coffee in the afternoon. I took loads of photos - there was lots of interesting stuff - the rock and water gardens were particularly interesting, as were all the different greenhouses (Victorian iron structures) and I took loads of pictures. This is a new laptop and the systems are a bit different so I'm having to take my time over uploading them, but shouldn't be too long now ...........
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
You were really lucky with the weather after the pessimistic forecast. It sounds an interesting place to visit. Were the cakes as good as yours?
Looking forward to seeing your photo's and seeing how much colour there is in the gardens compared to here. Saying that we do have enough in flower to keep a few red admirals happy.
The cakes were very good and the portions were ginormous!!! Nut's piece of apple crumble cake was so large she only ate a small portion of it. Think the rest accompanied her home I had a portion of Lemon polenta cake - it was very good indeed but again, it was really too much for one person.
Have a good day Lily

Morning all. Glad the TWIGS had a good day. I looked up TWIGS on the Search facility, it only mentioned them once and that wasn't the time when it was explained. All the twigs it came up with were in little letters and belonged to trees and shrubs. I hope I can become a temporary member next year, mother's family are from East Anglia.
Lunching out today.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

Good morning all
For some reason I'm wide awake and felt compelled to get up and on with the day - or at least drink a mug of coffee
Hope all have slept well.

The pics are lovely Dove. See what you mean about the cake. There's room on there for loads more photos
Beautiful morning here. Crisp with a touch of frost but the colours are lovely in the autumn sun.
