Forgot to say, took son to our first village fayre on sat. Him n his friend had a fun time lifting up the prize marrow and plonking it firmly back down (Ooops! and a quick disappearing act, wasn't me guv). maybe maybe next year there will be a big sign 'no children allowed'. Seriously, the only stall we had any comments from was the church stall with a lady flapping over heavy handling of the flimsey sweet boxes (free for the kids but please kids dont touch or damage them!).
Dove, I feel for you - hope this gets resolved soon.
Thanks for all your kind comments about my garden, folks - I'll post photos in the right place in future
DD - I had a bit of a chuckle over your comment. If you were actually in my garden you'd not be under any illusions about its perfection... I have a "secret" path to a quiet seat which is currently inaccessible, for instance. And it needs a major sort out this winter, or I'll lose some of my favourite plants in the undergrowth!
Sending this on the dreaded netbook (currently behaving itself) at my daughter's, having spent a happy day making towers of stacking cups for the nearly-6-month-old to demolish, and playing with Peppa Pig with the 3-year-old. Being a gran has much to recommend it...
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Dove, i hope they figure out where they have put your pa soon
Mrs G, hope you decide on your trees soon , beware the david austin book and website, someone went a little mad when they were touching the colours up! Most are very different "in the flesh", i was really dissapointed with a couple when i saw tgem
It was lovely to see your pics liri. More people would get to see them on the other thread which is why it was suggested Sounds as though you had a lovely day with your grandchildren
Can't believe you've not had rain for so long Fairy. Our ground is pretty damp so maybe I don't need a pond yet as I surprised a frog in one of the borders today. Correction - the frog surprised me (Big girls blouse me)
Watching GW from few weeks ago (OH is awol tonight) (yup I know how to live!). Why, if I don't do yellow flowers, am I drooling over all the purple and yellow combinations I see? Is it 'the change' a-coming?
Will be careful where I put my finers in the DA book Bekkie, thanks for the warning
Now home after weekend long family wedding, which was great.
Have added some yellow rudbeckias, donated by friend, and have moved some verbena bonariensis from elsewhere in garden, to new grasses bed.... to give a smidgeon of colour. Also working on another border which is being encroached upon by my woodland border. Some remedial pruning of ornamental shrubs, and clearing of undergrowth. Now starting to look better. Planting up as we go, including splitting a single red hot poker into about 8 plants. Penstemmon to follow. Gradually working through the whole garden, and determined to put it to bed this year.
Looking forward to my little house for my prairie, thanks to Gg.
Just been to google something (other search engines are available) and the logo tells me that it is the first day of Autumn. Trees still pretty green here, so will remain in denial for a few more weeks.
So glad Pa was found safe and sound - what a nightmare few hours for you all.

Watched Cilla, loved it. Actress is brilliant, wish I hadn't missed the first episode.

Glad your dad has been found Dove, maybe he needs a tracker like when new cars go missing?
My lights have fused downstairs, and I cant find the torch, so it will have to wait until daylight. I'm off to bed now.
