Evening all. Just a quick catch up as I'm weary. Lots done today and was out for tea with the girls.

fidget - I thought it was just me. I planted a load of Acidanthera in pots in spring and planted out later.  Same as you - loads of foliage, and doesn't look like any are going to produce flowering stems. image

Nice pic Yvie - you should pop that on the Gallery thread too, for those who don't look in here.  Glad you had a good hol  image

Off for a quick look round and then putting my feet up. Night all image

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • Hello folks!

Had a lovely surprise this morning - found my OH had painted the shed and cut the grass yesterday, while I was at the Harrogate show.  image

Fidget - there were lots of flowering acidanthera at the show yesterday.   I've never managed to get them to flower myself so I don't know the key - I think you need a long growing season, & September's a bit late for tender stuff in this garden.  Love the scent - reminds me of the sunscreen we used to use as children...

Can't remember who wanted a list of my purchases...  Had to buy plants in bud because of transporting them on the train so no photos I'm afraid!

Cyclamen hederifolium (one with nice marbled leaves - to replace a recently deceased dinner plate sized one my dad gave me as a seedling 30-something years ago)

Tricyrits hirta (toad lilies like shade, I believe image)

Hesperantha coccinea 'Wilfred H.Bryant' (after all that effort to learn to spell Schizostylis, they go and change its name...  image)

Sempervivum cantabricum (to replace one destroyed by a slug - which left all the other semps untouched.  Pretty rosette, dark tips to the leaves)

    - and some Narcissus bulbocodium to plant in my trough.  image

Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
