Evening all. Just a quick catch up as I'm weary. Lots done today and was out for tea with the girls.
fidget - I thought it was just me. I planted a load of Acidanthera in pots in spring and planted out later. Same as you - loads of foliage, and doesn't look like any are going to produce flowering stems.
Nice pic Yvie - you should pop that on the Gallery thread too, for those who don't look in here. Glad you had a good hol
Off for a quick look round and then putting my feet up. Night all
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Had a lovely surprise this morning - found my OH had painted the shed and cut the grass yesterday, while I was at the Harrogate show.
Fidget - there were lots of flowering acidanthera at the show yesterday. I've never managed to get them to flower myself so I don't know the key - I think you need a long growing season, & September's a bit late for tender stuff in this garden. Love the scent - reminds me of the sunscreen we used to use as children...
Can't remember who wanted a list of my purchases... Had to buy plants in bud because of transporting them on the train so no photos I'm afraid!
Cyclamen hederifolium (one with nice marbled leaves - to replace a recently deceased dinner plate sized one my dad gave me as a seedling 30-something years ago)
Tricyrits hirta (toad lilies like shade, I believe )
Hesperantha coccinea 'Wilfred H.Bryant' (after all that effort to learn to spell Schizostylis, they go and change its name... )
Sempervivum cantabricum (to replace one destroyed by a slug - which left all the other semps untouched. Pretty rosette, dark tips to the leaves)
- and some Narcissus bulbocodium to plant in my trough.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Oh Liri that was a nice surprise Bet you was well pleased especially after your episode on the train last night! Hope you wasn't shaken or had dribble on your shoulder
Havent had chance to read all through today's posts yet but hope you have all had good days
Welcome home Yviestevie, hope You had a lovely holiday
Hope you enjoyed your garden in day light today Chicky and Lesley I'm not talking to you as you wouldn't allow me take that to dinner but you let others have lots!
