Great day yesterday - was interested to see how the famous Olympic Park meadow planting was working 2 years on.  Verdict: the sections that are massed grasses look spectacular, some of the rudbeckia/ echinacea bits look good - but they looked freshly planted to me, so a massive amount of work every year to keep it going, and the more meadowy bits looked dreadful (although they might have been great a few months ago).   Also went inside the velodrome - amazing - the short ends of the track are practically verticalimage.  Its like riding on a wallimageimage. And that special London 2012 feeling still hangs about the place.

And now ..... to work.  But tgifimage

    morning guys.

Salt mines for me today. Bit of an odd one - last day for one of the girls, she's been a bit of 'trouble' over the years but strangely I quite like her, can't really explain it, its the end of an era in some ways and hopefully work will change for the better but I will miss her and worry about her, she's not the most settled soul hence being seen as trouble.

Anyway, must walk down the path at the side of the house - you know where my long awaited opening of sunflowers have decided to face, will feel a bit silly taking a pic!

Brig.ansia looking splendid this morning. As is the monster cosmos (still).

Garden sounds good chicky, started reading it as if it was yours! Well its early! Ish..

Fidget, that must have been a very very distressing time for you all, and if anyone can call them to account it's you. Glad that Dad is showing signs of improvement.

     Hi Chicky & BM image

  • Good morning all. Away from gardening this w/e as going to a christening. But have set my little helper going which should show some further progress on the master plan. Another bed to be dug out and redesigned... where I will plant heleniums, rudbeckias etc, to continue the yellow theme in that part of the garden. Also my new phlox bed will soon be ready, plus sedums and roseannes.

    Have a good weekend everyone.
