omg I'm exhausted..... Got sooooo much dot in the garden... Daffs all planted now.... Acorns (4 wheel barrows full) raked and redistributed into the woods although with the amount if half of them take I will be living in Nottingham forest!! Temporary cloche built seeds inside it.... Garden front and back mowed, kids climbing frame moved off te grass( needs resorting in spring!) weeded bed, found a guara (hurray) I thought I ha killed... Nettles pulled up, I was unsure wether to cut back the hardy geraniums I have, so I left them.... And stepping stones cleared an cleaned..... Now roast beef in the oven and I think I deserve a little rhubarb crumble for pudding
Wow! Stacey, do you have magic powers, so much done today! You make me feel very guilty now. Apart from a bit of washing, a quick hoover round, i've done nothing. A very lazy sunday afternoon! (I know a song about that!) Think you deserve more than crumble
Yes punkdoc, its been lovely on here hasn't it, long may it lastI
Got loads and loads of self seeded buddleias in implanted / future beds and in paving on front. Never had as many, n the paving ones won't pull out so will have to use weedkiller prob in spring now. Got tall s.son to help me cut back buddleias along gennel. Pretended I couldn't reach, poor me. Other son playing on front which im not keen on so freezing while I keep an eye on him.
Been a lovely day here in the NE but felt cold. What I can't understand is why every gardening job turns into two. Being a list person I write down what I'm planning to do and it always looks like a few hours long ie a days work with coffee breaks. However, move potted echeverias under cover..easy..NO I always give plants a little tug to test for vine weevil. Yes you guessed right, so carefully cleaned up the tiny stump of stem with tiddly roots and planted them up as cuttings. Yes I know it's fingers crossed but I couldn't bin them along with the compost. Next job was pot up remaining over summered tulips, ran out of 21cm terracotta pots SO potted on some mints into larger plastic pots so I could use the terracotta ones. See what I mean about double jobs!
Acorns - grrrrrrrrrrr - no that's wromg GRRRRRRRRRR
A constsnt battle with them and one of my veg raised beds has so many you can't see the soil. A job for tomorrow, after my brown bin had been emptied (full of acorns)
Still the wind has been blowing but not as bad as yesterday, but sooo cold, haven't felt warm all day
On a plus my NDN came round and has drilled and plugged holes, and put in vine eyes in a plain wall so I can finally train my 2 roses across it - Veilchenbrau and Lady Hillingdon.
A good day for me. Finished some curtains this morning, ironed and hung them. Two lots of washing done, a new raised bed built (over the lump of concrete at back fence) painted and lined. Some pots washed and more bulbs put in them, some food shopping and then a little hoovering and ironing. Now sitting feeling quite pleased with my efforts.
Cup of tea would be nice...anyone offering?
Hope it turns up MrsG. Crossing fingers and toes for you
Bilje- know exactly what you mean. It's like one of those puzzles where you have to move one bit before you can get to the bit you need.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Ooooh Matty, I'm so tempted by Veilchenbrau........... but then I'm tempted by http://www.classicroses.co.uk/products/roses/purple-skyliner/ which is very similar but continuous flowering - I just don't know if it fades as beautifully as Veilchenbrau does.
Cuppa here Fg and fruitcake if you want it
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
I dont know if tonight I make much sense. I dug up the dahlias today and put them in the greenhouse, Then I planted New Tree lily bulbs, replanted the aquilegias I dug up and potted earlier in the year, planted tulips and little daffs, and allium purple sensation. Then the sciatica kicked in, I had a long bath, and now I'm lying on the floor with the TENs machine on , and doped up on tablets. (Nurofen Plus and Paracetamol.)
I've got some orchid photos on the other computer.(Kew Orchid Festival last February). They'll have to wait until tomorrow.
