Stacey - I'm a bit pathetic to get excited over buying a grass!

I'm not surprised Potty Gardener that you fell asleep during GW - I only watch it to see Nigel and he wasn't on much last night.

  • Thank you potty and dove. Will do.image

Potty, you have only just found out about pampas grassimageimage

Washing out, hoovering done just time for a quick cuppa and then do a few more jobs before son arrives.

I missed GW too so will have to remember tomorrow. Strickly tonight!

    Pampas grass, oh heck image

  • if you want to buy grasses, SGL, why not try Knoll Gardens in Dorset, near Wimborne...they are specialists. Google and have a look?

I read in the Daily Mail last week that if you have a pampas grass in your garden it's a sign that you are a 'swinger'. Luckily mine is out out sight right at the bottom of the garden so i don't get any unwanted visitors image

That was in the 1970s - quite good for the Daily Mail only being 40 years behind the times though - they still think our Queen is named Victoria. image

A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.

I have a pampas grass by the veggie garden, been there over 20 years. Late OH planted it. It's going horrid in the middle, leaves and flowers round the edges. Never cared for it in more ways than one! Is it true you can set fire to the dead middle and it will clean it up and then grow better?

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

BL that reminds me of a huge fushia bush I had. Tried to dig the thing out several times. Then set fire to it one bonfire night. It still grew back the following spring. We did finally get it out in the end.
  • Ohhh Mrs Garden your own burning bush
