More of the laurel chopped, satisfied now, leaving growth on top where I can't reach (hopefully get to it next year) and thinned out bottom branches to the trunks (bit of a lollypop effect).

Gave up on the apple trees (I know I'll loose fruit doing them now) but can't reach so it's OH or pay someone.

Chased Argos up cos I ordered arches twice so needed refund/cancel.

Yes SGL, big brother's 60th birthday and retirement party held at mine on sat. Another excuse to tidy the gardenimage Got age twenty ish family coming so should be less sober than out more recent parties image roll on sunday image

I saw 6 butterflies on it, 5 tortoiseshells and 2 commas, hows that for March!

5 + 2 is 7- no matter what school you went to ...imageimage

I don't like heathers but I'm considering putting them right along the outside of the new fence purely for that reason pd. Great early source of food aren't they? They'll get plenty of sun there too - when we get any of course image  We had masses of them on the pond bank at last house - bunnies didn't eat them.  They were alive with bees and butterflies in spring.

Busy day at work. No gardening done - cloudy, cold and damp here.

Oh well, I enjoyed spring while it lasted!

Good evening, folks.  The sun burned the fog off and it was a nice sunny afternoon here, but it has dropped cold now. Shopping and h****work done today, so tomorrow is a gardening day (after the car is serviced.)  Chinese for tea, I'll save you the bamboo shoots, Panda.

It's been gorgeous here today - I've been outside all day in just jeans and a tee shirt and we've had the big sliding studio door open and the dining room door wide open too, and I've been working on the herb garden. The only problem with having the big ash trees at the end of the garden is that from time to time their roots invade the beds and have to be dug out again.  image

And the birds have been singing and bumble bees have been buzzing image

    Evening all.

Feel like we've turned a corner a bit with the garden today. 2 car fulls of rubbish, weeds and roots taken to the tip (why don't they start the green bin collections til the end of March?!) And also bought a Kilmarnock Willow from Morissons for £7 imageWill be nice to get some constructive gardening done ie planting something. It feels like all we've done so far is chop things down and pull things out.

Also the cuttings i took from the overgrown gooseberry bush in the autumn just before ripping it out have little green shoots on them image All 10 of them! Not sure what I'm going to do with 10 gooseberry bushes.

All you snowdrop planters, just water them in and leave them. They'll be fine. Don't drown them
