  • Maybe you should take the photo Paula and show others the stages to making a great lawn?

  •  Pam thank you,I still have ongoing work which should be finished soon,I am building a pizza oven on the cheap. So far it has cost me £30.00 For some of the bricks, but it is amazing what you can get for free to build your project.I place a wanted add on a local freecycle site and the offers are flooding in.You should try it your self some time.

How about I just describe it!  Grass looks thin in places, a fair bit of earth visible, fairly anaemic looking and covered in grass seed at the minute....

  • Are you putting on a good weed and feed? I have a mate who has a lawn care business,i get my feed off him.

It didn't need weed and feed as there is no moss or weeds in it, just some patches of course grass and thatch.  It's been liquid fed all summer.  Looks ropey at the minute but plenty of rain coming down to water the seed image

  • WB gardens can look nice in the rain,a good friend of mine is a photographer and he can capture some amxing pic of flowers with cobwebs or dew drops, even the frosting on things. so just because it,s winter your garden can still shine. I often sit on my gliding bench ( rocking bench ) and admire how nature still carries on no matter what the weather.

  • PaulaH what do you think is the cause of it then, is it under tress or is it drainage,or simply neglect through the summer?

The cause of what Dave?  I scarify the lawn once every 2-3 years (proper scarifying not just raking).  It clears out all the dead grass and any moss and does it a favour, let's water and air get to the roots and livens it up.

  • The cause of the bald or yellowing.

The thin areas were caused by me scarifying!  The lawn wasnt too yellow, just needed an overall good raking to let air and water in to the roots.
