well, i can see my garden in my mind, i just need a bit of luck with the soil compatibilty etc. fingers crossed.
Thanks Mowmymoss, but I spend my weekends birdwatching and looking at lovely natural flora out in the countryside, then come back to these depressing looking beasts. I watched carefully to see if anything nice would pop up but alas, it stayed much the same. But I do get your point, i will consider before i cut. It has been bugging me all spring and summer though.
Hi Dolgarrog, my neighbours are lovely. They have plum tress, lilac and mt ash/rown for the birds. They agree the previous owner was neat and tidy but can see I'm not impressed with the sea of evergreen, particularly them conifers. I moved in last Jan, so Im nearly putting up with it a year now. I got the cameras out this eve in the hope of advice on here, and Im very grateful. Cheers.
them conifers are wasp magnets, especially when i prune them. And theyre useless for birds. I think the suggestion of winter honeysuckle is brilliant. (Conifers and rhode are not nice IMO).
Although many of those plants are not to your taste, they are some lovely specimens. Why don't you put them on freegle a recycling web site and they will have new homes and you won't have to dump them - worth a try and you will get some help digging them up too!

Never really had a garden before the one I have now. Two of my favourites that appeared are Rudbeckia and Crocosmia. Great colour.
Agree with the conifers. Mine are long gone.
That crocosmia is lovely. Love the crimson red. Thanks for the suggestions. Lovely colours

As an aside, I wonder if anyone has ever looked at a forum thread and posted, oi, that's my old garden you are talking about!!!
