Hello friends. This plant is growing, and I do not know what it is.

Do the leaves smell when crushed?

    Aguja is another possibility

Looks a bit like an ajuga to me too.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Is it a woody plant ? Can I see twigs or is it in the compost

Thanks everyone. Ajuga is growing elsewhere, so I think perhaps the birds have dropped the seeds

The old woody stems in it imply to me that it was something taller than ajuga. It looks familiar but I can't think what. It looks a bit like the way mint grows, there are many sorts of mint. Maybe @B3 was thinking of that or monarda but I'm not sure.

Theer could certainly be other plants in there too - hence the spent stems. I have various other plants with ajuga at their base.
Ajuga mostly spreads by itself - via runners @Goldfinch 60

It does look like various things though, so you may just have to wait and see. My memory is so poor now that I can't remember the names of lots of plants   :)

It looks like Ajuga to me too and also it conjures up images of other plants but like Fairygirl I cannot think of what they are !!

I'm agreeing with ajuga now. I wondered about mint but thought the leaves looked a bit too shiny.
