Thank you @newbie77 that’s a shock! I’ve finally started to get back to work in the garden after neglect due to various life circumstances over the past two years, it’s an uphill battle with the weeds and I’m not sure how great things will look regarding sharing photos but I do miss seeing everyone’s gardens and hard work. I was once on GC and people were really rude and judgmental to me on my first (and last) post so I will try out Houzz 😄
I’m deeply saddened by the news of the forum closing. The community here is incredible. I’ve only been gardening a few years and I’ve achieved more than I ever imagined thanks to the people on here.
I have read so many recent comments about how it has helped people considerably with their mental health. The program itself regularly promotes this too yet closes its own online international community.
With roses being my favourite plant, I have particularly treasured these threads. The roses on here have been so inspiring. Whenever I want fantastic pictures of a rose I’m after I always search these threads than look at things like magazines.
@Nollie and @Marloerna (and to many others) thank you so much with helping me grow them. My garden is filled with so many great roses that perform so well now thanks to you two. Your skills, advice and expertise on roses are second to none.
I will certainly join another forum if people will carry on elsewhere. The Houzz forum is good. I’ve been on there a few times.
Hope it is just a minor set back. I am on Houzz as well. Had created account sometime ago to search for non rose related queries.
Like most others on this forum, I have learnt so much about roses here.. such a welcoming bunch.. each and everyone has been an inspiration.. I try to chip in to help with my limited knowledge, but most times let the experts answer all the queries..
who inspired me the most? Well everyone knows the answer.. the reason my wallet is much lighter is @Marlorena 😀 atleast that is how it started.. But truly each and everyone has been an inspiration.. (I had started typing all members here and realised the list was never ending.. so had to edit out..) Thank you all...
I hope to see you all on the new rose forum.. just a suggestion.. whichever forum it is, we should create a rose forum before this one shuts down as members can still msg here and find out which one to join...
Another option would be to create a group on a social media site, like Facebook - I’d personally find that much easier to use and would be more likely to be able to visit regularly.
Nice to see familiar faces posting again, you've been much missed. Thanks for earlier comments, you've all inspired me plenty of times, and cost me a fortune too I might add..
I've had a look at Gardeners Corner, it seems ok if one just sticks to 'Roses', I think the photos enlarge when one is logged in, - not much use otherwise. I do find it awfully muddling. However those that wish to go there, let us know how it goes.
So, for me personally, I'm migrating to Houzz. Do hope as many of you as possible will join me there, I'll be putting up a thread on that site in a few days. Every forum has its tetchy members, but most are ok. Their humour is different to ours and can be misinterpreted sometimes. I shall explain why I'm barging in.. they all know me anyway.. there are no moderators, nobody to tell us what not to post, and they have long running chat threads. To be honest, I'm surprised it hasn't shut down before now, there's nowhere near as many people posting on there as there used to be.
If it doesn't work out, I think we'll find out quite soon, but shall we give it a try first, and if we're not happy and drift away, then we can come up with something else..
Posts
About GC, there is already a thread on there Members Roses 2024, but only 3 posts on it. They would either hate us taking it over or love the company.
If Nollie prefers Houzz I'm happy with that, not that I really feel I should have a say being such a new member.

I’ll have to go through and screenshot some of the pages.
I fully planned on getting more involved as soon as I started having some more time on my hands again.
I will register on whatever platform you all end up using.

yes indeed. We have a week to sort things out, I think
I can’t figure out Houzz though. I made an account but I’m struggling to navigate the site.

Do I join Houzz.com or Houzz.co.uk?
