A gallery thread for our roses, in or out of bloom, and companion plants too, like Clematis or perennials - always good to see those, and anything else of interest in our Rose Gardens..
Whilst we await 'Canary Bird' and Banksian roses to flower, and from those in warmer climates of course.. which I think won't be long, I have 'Sophie's Perpetual' showing some colour in bud but still a way off.
Gr. 1 clematis are not the best for pairing with roses but I have a couple.
Just starting to flower is 'Wesselton' a macropetala.. named after where it was bred - Westleton, Suffolk, but given a phonetic spelling..
I don't normally shop with Crocus these days, as they're so awfully expensive, but the only one that had what I wanted in stock, so it cost an arm and a leg for these little 9cm pots..
If I want something I have to pay the price..
These are a mix of Veronicastrum, Veronica, Geranium 'Havana Blues' and a Phlomoides..
As usual, I was late finishing the pruning this season; some I had to prune after the first leaves had appeared. Today, I started feeding the roses and then realised that I have run out of the rose feed. I have ordered and hopefully I'll get round to completing that task next week. Planted a Sophie's Perpetual bareroot today, after seeing your photos @Marlorena. 😊
Oxford. The City of Dreaming Spires.
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils (roses). Taking a bit of liberty with Wordsworth
This is just a suggestion and I would do it myself but I'm not sure how. Would it be a good idea to put a link at the beginning of the thread to the previous one? For people like me with no life who like to read through all the previous rose threads while waiting. Currently in 2020 .......
@Tack, to answer your question on the previous thread re Gertrude Jekyll ‘s new home, it seems to be taking a while to settle in, didn’t do much last year. I cut it right down and thinned it remorselessly, since it always sent up a forest of basals when it was in a pot. Needless to say it hasn’t produced a new basal since!
My own-root Munstead Wood has been treated to a new pot:
Having convinced myself that my tiny, lifeless bare root Champagne Moment (called Lions-Rose here) wasn’t going to make it, I couldn’t resist this healthy-looking potted one, spotted in the GC previously. Boscobel somehow slipped into my basket too. It might go too coral or hate my heat here, we’ll see..
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.

I also like these newer pots they're using now, I don't think they have extra volume but they seem a little bigger..
Good idea, but too late for me to put links in now.. hope you can find the other threads ok.. I think years 2021/22 were started by other members..
