I asked the council once and they said that they have to be taken to the dump as they didn't count as domestic waste. They agreed it was nonsense and suggested that I hid them in the bottom of the black bin. Anyway, they're not recyclable if they're non stick. Perhaps non nonstick could be recycled if you took the handle off. I don't know. https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2023/feb/07/stop-wishcycling-and-get-wise-how-to-recycle-almost-everything Apparently you can. Best not to take too much notice of me.
I would take them to the tip and ask which bay they wanted me to put them in.
Yes - they might have a metal bin maybe? If not - at least I tried. I need a tip run soon. That’s if the tip-slot booking webpage is working, and they have a slot at a convenient time, and I can be bothered…
what do you all do with pots, pans and oven trays if you do throw them out?
As others have said, quite a bit of my kitchen ends up in garden (and the garden migrates to the kitchen). Most chipped plates and bowls I use for outside saucers or inside for cuttings. Thb, I now try and buy quality pans that will outlast my lifetime, so hopefully I won't have to ditch any. I go to some (daft) lengths to fix and repair stuff. I happily contact manufacturers to replace handles, knobs.
One time I dropped an old Le Creuset large casserole lid on a tile floor and it cracked the enamel. They sent me a brand new lid (no questions asked, no guarantee) and they have had my admiration ever since.
I have quite a bit of stainless steel (oven trays, pans etc) and they can take some punishment - scrubbing and blitzing. You don't need to be gentle.
