    I am.
I only use it for gardening and find it excellent, just about everyone I am interested in has an account and posts regularly. Lots of brilliant pictures.

Yes, very regular. But I don't use it in a necessarily typical way, or utilise anywhere near all the features. In other words, it's my daughters' primary means of communication and social media and I don't use it in the same way as them and their friends at all!

I joined it when the older one did, purely because one of the conditions I imposed at that age was that she could have it as long as I was able to follow her! I very rarely actually used it until I decided to do a project of posting a photo every day from my garden. Purely for myself, but public for anyone who happened to want to look.

So, since 2021 I have posted one picture day from my garden. Other than that, I occasionally post on my story (eg: if I want to post a plant photo that's not from my garden, or a photo from an outing, or anything else that doesn't fit with my self-imposed rule of one-a-day my-garden-only). It seems to be the platform of choice for garden people though, I guess because it's so visual, so I follow lots of gardeners and garden designers. As a consequence of only really posting garden stuff and following mainly garden people, I think of it as a gardening platform, which of course it isn't really - just my experience! Facebook is/was family & friends stuff and Twitter was work/profession related (I've given up on it since Musk). I like to pick a platform for a task and keep things compartmentalised!

Edited to add: just realised that I follow a lot of classical music-related accounts too, because of my kids - all their various institutions and ensembles are on there. But I don't post anything musical apart from links to their concerts, as I have nothing to say!

That's amazing. It's enough of a reason for me to join up. Lol.

I very much want less screen time, but all major crafters, nurseries, gardeners, designers etc seem to use Insta as their main/only place to update.I know that Dixter, Knepp, Plantsman's Preferance only post there.  I might have to give in and give it a go. This is the definition of FOMO, except I am certainly missing out. Lol.

I didn't say they were any good, just daily 😉. The original point was to make myself go out and notice stuff. A secondary point was to record it in time. A long way third was to share it.

I did a daily image blog for a year and I loved. I miss it. I can see myself doing it again on Instagram.

I just don't want to get sucked into another online wormhole.

I don't really understand what Instagram is. 🤔  I've never used FB or Twitter.  My internet life has been conducted on forums attached to specific things, with almost no overlap between the areas.

It's hard to descibe online platforms if you haven't been on them.

You can look at Instagram accounts without joining up. I am no social media platforms apart from this GW forum.

If you like seeing pictures from fabulous gardens and commentary from great gardens, then Instagram is the perfect place. I love it.

I use instagram as all of my children are on it. I love making reels of special events or to celebrate special people. I probably use it more than Facebook now. I would say don’t be tempted by threads. It’s the new twitter.
  • I gave up on my personal account years ago for a number of reasons: I didn't find it useful to stay so 'in touch' with minute details of the lives of friends, plus the non-chronological timeline is a massive turnoff.

However, I do maintain a garden account, purely as I like to keep track of the progress, get ideas from others and connect with like-minded people. If anyone is into growing tropical plants, desert plants, or pushing the boundaries of what we can grow in our climate, you can find me here: http://www.instagram.com/greatnorthernexotic
