Saving a tree rose

Our new neighbour has just cut down a huge rose trees at the base. I have always loved this next door as it flowers prolifically every year so i wondered if there was any way of saving it.

Please show a photo as I'm not clear what you're talking about.  Thanks..

    richandfran42527 Welcome to the forums.
Where in the world do you live?

    Tricky.
If the rose is growing in your neighbours garden then there is nothing you can do...except talk to them. It would have been his rose to do as he wished .
Unless I am not understanding you correctly.
    Perthshire. SCOTLAND .
  • Were they just pruning it so that it will grow stronger? This is the time of year for pruning many types of  roses.

  • Of course it’s up to him but I just wondered if there was any point asking him for the rose before he takes it to the tip. It basically looks like a tree just severed cleanly at the base of the trunk.
  • Definitely not pruning as they said today that it was in the way of their car so they didn’t want it there.
  • I think photos would definitely help!

  • I’ll take one tomorrow if it’s still there

  • Yes, just like that but much bigger

It might be worth saving the roots and putting them in a bucket of water. Don't let the roots dry out. You need to act quickly though, if the roots are out of the ground for more than a few hours I would think.
