My favourite plant last year was a rusty coloured black eyed susie. A single plant in a large pot/ container nearly covered two fence panels. Who knows what it'll be this year? PS when does a large pot become a container?
I am a little like @punkdoc, 😁. I do have great respect for those plants in my garden that give so much in return for very little work on my part. But if I think about which plant would be most upsetting to lose I would say the amelanchier and the holly tree.

Yes indeed. For me top spot in that category is Persicaria affinis 'Darjeeling Red'. It thrives on a north-facing slope that only gets prolonged sun on a summer afternoon. All in the first photo is from a single plant and it will flower from May right through to November.
And a discovery of recent years is Anthemis tinctoria 'E.C. Buxton' which likes our well-drained beds in the sunny front garden. Could not be without it now.
Clay soil - Cheshire/Derbyshire border. I play with plants and soil and sometimes it's successful
My beautiful silver birches, planted by the previous owner of my house about 50 years ago. I am forever thankful to him. I'm scared that if I ever sold my house, the next owners would cut them down.

I did yes, a couple of years ago. I borrowed a tongue-in-cheek name from @didyw's husband. Haven't paid him any royalties yet
