Yeay! Thank you and well found AnniD I found them to be pretty obliging as long as you plant them early . I think that is they key @B3 But rarely kept them over winter. A bit of a pain, they would rot off in a pot or if they got frosted/wet But being so cheap to buy I mostly used to just buy a new pack.
They aren't very hardy - the Acidantheras/Gladiolus m. but do have some scent - I can even manage to smell them if I'm up close! They certainly won't tolerate wet conditions long term. I treat them as annuals too. I sometimes plant them in pots and keep them in the little growhouse, but they need to be in very dry compost to start with, and if I ever try to overwinter them, they still rot off, as even a small amount of moisture means they get too cold and don't survive. I'd have to bring them into the house to keep them dry and frost free
