(Actually Dangermousie! Logged in on wrong account) I'm back on the big screen and realise I missed lots of messages! @Nanny Beach, thanks so much for the detailed reply, and beautiful pics! I'll move them to the wee cold room, what we call the "Airlock". It's SE facing but I can position them out of harmful rays. The position I have them in the photos is only a recent thing, about a week. In this weather, the radiators don't get hot, the automation sets them low for longer, rather than bursts of 55 degrees :).

I've had the large leafed one since late 2021 (Can't find flowering pics, I think they were white), and the speckled one since August 23.

I got so desperate for flowers at one point, that I did this: it fools many people :D

Regarding the pots, I hate to look at the plastic. It's such a contrast to the beautiful plant. I tried to mount it on wood, but found it difficult to water. The pots let some light through and I have an inch of gravel at the bottom to avoid rot. I feel it's ok to have damp gravel underneath as it might help with humidity.

I did buy some florist Moss,a few years ago,oh my god it was expensive! I put 3 orchids in a metal planter (all my pots have gravel) covered the plastic with the moss. It looked great for a while, you have to keep the moss damp.... difficult in a living room with carpet or laminate, and you had to remove everything to water.

Fire,my north facing conservatory reaches in excess of 40c in summer,as it's a bungalow and   not overlooked , the sun goes over the roof. So I have always put them outside in the shade. As it warms up,it takes ages to feed and water them.
