Not pelargonium tomentosum - plant ID help

Last year I was sent this as pelargonium tomentosum (meaning 'hairy'). Not from Woottens.

The leaves are clearly tomentos but the plant is not what I ordered. The leaves have no scent are are the wrong shape. Do you have any idea what it might be? The edges of the leaves are smooth, not serrated.

Thanks

It does look a bit Verbascum-like from here too. 🤔

I agree re. vebascum, the only other one that springs to mind is rose campion

Thanks. The seller seems amenable to sending out a replacement, which is good.

For record, P.  tomentosum is one of the only Ps that thrive in shade and the leaves have a peppermint scent. Tender, but worth experimenting with. Makes a good house plant.

What I don't understand, is that the leaves look nothing like P.tomentosum, which the seller should have known.

Like @punkdoc, I am surprised that mistake has happened. Woottens have long specialised in Pelargoniums, offering many rare / unusual / species varieties and most of their staff would have realised straight away that wasn't a pelargonium.

Maybe a label was incorrectly attached to the pot and they had an inexperienced person helping them package up during a busy period - or the pot was simply placed in the wrong box.

One thing is for sure - you shouldn't have any problems with getting a refund / replacement from Woottens - excellent company. I really wish their nursery was still open all the time for the public to visit.

As noted above - it wasn't from Woottens but a small pelly company that I hadn't used before. They were the only ones who stocked it at the time.

Fibrex have this pelargonium though you will have to buy a minimum of three plants. https://www.fibrex.co.uk/products/tomentosum
Fibrex is now under new ownership so I am hoping the new version will be as good as the old one.
Tomentosum is a lovely plant but it is a bit of a thug and you need a big windowsill to accomodate it. Like all woolly plants, it has a wonderful tactile charm.
