Blue poppies! Lucky you. I think more work is required in getting the soil and compost right in pots and planters, when compared with in the ground. Quite labour-intensive I suppose.  Do you find you get alot of rain in the cold winter months?

It sounds like we can help on the forum. Do you have anyone that can help move pots? Do you have a tap in the yard?

Maybe this is the year to think of redesigning your garden so that it really shines and is less of a big effort to maintain. What are your priorities? I am sure many on here will be able to help.

There are some options worth considering here, depending on your budget and how you would like to use your space https://www.idealhome.co.uk/garden/courtyard-garden-ideas-311383. One or two large containers are the easiest way to introduce colour and interest into an enclosed space and will be easier to maintain, rather than many small pots. If you’d like any suggestions for suitable container plants, details of the aspect and conditions in your yard will help.
