finding a new spring for seceteurs

I have tried many replacement springs for these, but I have had no joy. As you can perhaps see, the gap, at full extent, is wide. If I put a long spring in the middle bends and drops - the tension doesn't hold. A shorter spring doesn't reach. The spring needs to compress fairly straight to coil properly. The pair worked…
