  • Some spiders are like us - prefer to live in houses.  I have 1 awkward spider which likes to lie next to me in bed and listen to the radio  :D

@B3, do you often shower in your socks?

Identification of small creature sharing the shower is made more difficult once you're over 27, and need reading glasses...

Always. It saves on washing powder. Perhaps I should post this on the cheeseparing thread🤔 @Lizzie27

The fact that I post here a lot  says something I'd prefer not to think about.
The grass was getting too long for the mower and too wet to do anything about it so I bought myself a strimmer to keep it reasonably short. Cheaper than I wanted to spend, but the more expensive ones were made / sold by companies I'd never heard of. Basic but it does the job.
Anyway, I went out to play with it and accidentally shredded some iris.  I comfort myself with the fact that last year some fat beige caterpillars ate them last year so I never saw the blooms anyway. If the caterpillars have to do without this year, that's fine by me.

After a couple of hours pruning some laurel, I came back into the house to double check I had lowered the height enough, and to check which other plants needed a trim. I was quite alarmed by how large two pieris bushes at the edge of the lawn were, and decided I’d have to add them to the pruning list.
Looked out this afternoon, and was really puzzled that both the plants looked quite neat and tidy, and certainly didn’t need anything done to them.
It took me a little while to remember that I’d been looking through binoculars yesterday.

I use my binoculars from the upstairs window to see if the bird feeder needs filling. I have to check first that there's no-one out in their garden in case they think I'm perving😐

I have a similar predicament @B3. I like to lean against the radiator looking out of the front window and watching the world go by. The problem is not infrequently, including this afternoon, the world takes the form of the local public school on a cross-country run.

i remember once as I was weeding out of the front I heard one girl, clearly out of steam, ask her house master running with them “What’s …puff, puff … the point … puff … of this running?”
    ”It builds house spirit, Eleanor”
    “…puff … puff … Not working.”
