Very old mystery..id requested

    The 'cone' at the centre of the flower seems to elongate after flowering and as it dries fascinating.
    I have worked as a Gardener for 24 years. My latest garden is a new build garden on heavy clay.

    Ha!  It is on my Wishlist now.
    I had not quite discounted it but thought it was bigger than I needed.

    I had seen the above video when looking up Rudbeckias earlier this year and have Rosy Hardys videos bookmarked. 
    It is the first plant shown so no need to watch it all.
    The way the plant petals look and when it is moved. 
    And your pictures of the fresh leaf clumps.
